This cabinet size teapot is decorated with scenes from daily Japanese life set among a natural setting and painted in gold and earth tone colors with a splash of blue. The handle is wrapped and woven reed. The verso is marked with a paper label reading “Kinkozan, Kyoto” along with an artist mark. Kinkozan was known for their Satsuma ware and worked out of the city of Kyoto. They have been producing pieces from the 1600’s.
