A Scalloped Imari Plate, Japan, 20th Century

This shallow bowl/plate epitomizes the classic Imari porcelain style. The elegantly scalloped edges are gold rimmed. The interior side boarders are in a blue and white motif display alternating patterns of beetles, geometric design and, a fishing vignette. The base of the bowl/plate is encircled with a large band of gold, red, green and, blue. This consists of cranes, maples and, floral motifs. The center of the Imari plate is a medallion of blue and white floral motifs. The piece’s exterior reflects the same blue and white boarder of alternating pattern. The foot of the piece is daintily accented with a simple blue band of “xoxoxox”.

Size: 1 ¼” in height and, 8 ¼” in diameter
