Handpainted Porcelain Candlestick,Nippon, Japan,c 1900
Handpainted Porcelain Candlestick, By Nippon, Japan, circa 1900

This sole candlestick is so pretty! The porcelain work is in the form of a bud vase and shows a flared flat top where the candle rest resides which; is offset by the even wider flared base. The decoration motif is inspired by the late-Rococo porcelain styles of Germany and France. The palette is baby blue, rosy pink and, gold. The decoration detail is marvelous. The work shows everything opulent: roses, spirals, stippled pearls, scrolls, scalloped edges, gold banding etc. The Nippon Factory of Japan aimed to emulate the motifs of the West just as, many makers in the West aimed to emulate the motifs of the East.

Size: 9 in height

Condition: Excellent, mild ware to gold leaf

Price: $110.00 -USD-
