A Hand Carved Mask, Bobo Tribe, Republic of Niger, 20th Century
The Bobo tribe used masks to bring bush spirits and to chase evil from their community as well as to purify the land for successful planting and harvest. Typically masks are made from fiber, cloth, leaf, and wood and have geometric designs. This mask is made entirely of wood and contains several geometric designs. Size: 57” Long, 6 ½” Wide Condition: Very Good, part of the foot of the figure at the top of the mask is missing. Price: $1200.00 USD |
