A stunning antique bracelet with six different circular shakudo panels mounted in gold. Late 19th century, aesthetic influence. Shakudo is a black alloy made of copper with a small amount of gold. It was originally used for Japanese sword fittings. The wearing of swords was banned in Japan in 1876, and the metalsmiths who were skilled in decorating Samurai swords turned to making jewelry for export to the West. Stunning necklace in 14KT yellow gold with carved softly pyramid shaped carnelian stones in bezel settings. Marked 14K on the spring ring and also tests positive for 14KT gold. Circa 1930, from the same estate as the German Deco sterling and coral necklace I have listed. Art Deco, with elements of Arts & Crafts Tudor revival style.
