This beautiful Red Cedar Santos set carving is made by well-known carver Jacob Salazar. He is related to master carver Ernesto Salazar and Leonardo Salazar.
Carvings are 12-¾ inch and 13-½ inch tall.
The artist of this beautiful sterling/copper brooch showing the church of San Esteban del Rey Mission at the Acome Pueblo is unknown. It is marked on the back with “ San Esteban de Acoma”, the letters “HB” and a Dragonfly stamp. An Acoma Pueblo artist could have handcrafted this most unusual church brooch.. The Acoma Pueblo is often called Sky City and the mission was build in 1629 under the direction of Friar Juan Ramirez and completed in 1640.
