What a dramatic, wonderful choice of colors in the design layout on this unusual Zuni pin. The sharp angles and the flattened bits of wire used to outline the piece are a nice touch, too. Note the sharp inlay cuts at the knee, and the way the black and white inlay is used for the skirt as well as the band of black for a sash. It's a very artistic composition.Made ca. 1950s. The bright white shell used overall makes the one section of pink shell, or possibly mother of pearl, above the hea ...click for details

This is one of the best-known designs to come out of the classic period of Taxco jewelry making. I believe it was originally a Los Castillo design, but it might also have been either a Margot or Victoria piece. In any case, it was done in nearly every combination imaginable, with blue glass, jet, lapis, malachite, you name it replacing what here is so beautifully done in copper. "Mixed metal" work was a signature technique of Los Castillo, so while this piece is not signed Los Castillo ...click for details

Sold Thank you so much

I always keep my eye out for early Navajo and Pueblo souvenir spoons. Cindra Kline's fascinating book was the first one on the subject, and it made everyone aware of just how early and interesting spoons could be. Of course, once you start looking at Native American made spoons, you can't help but start to notice the details on commercially-produced spoons, too, because so many of them include Indian motifs, like this one. At the time of the "souvenir spoon craze" in this coun ...click for details

This darling pendant was taken from an old wire tie bar, which would, of course, not be fashionable or worn on ties today. Nothing was required to remove it from the original tie bar setting other than opening the jump rings; therefore it has a new contemporary and usable life as a sweet pendant! All the work is hand done, including the carving of the natural turquoise blade -- high grade American turquoise and natural, not stabilized, with lovely matrix. The handle was painstakingly made to wr ...click for details

While white and black pottery first comes to mind for most people when thinking of Acoma pots, this delicate piece was purchased directly from the artist high atop New Mexico's breathtaking "Sky City" pueblo in the year it is dated, 1992. A member of the large Ortiz family, one of the original descendants still residing atop the mesa at that time, created this lovely, hand formed and hand painted Acoma pot. She told me she was a member of the "turkey clan" hence the incor ...click for details

Beaded bags such as this one are hard to find in mint condition. This one is particularly pleasing in that it's a simple, elegant geometric composition in a single color of bronze/copper depending upon how the light catches it. The beads used in such bags, beginning in the 1920s, were usually Bavarian, Bohemian or Murano, but this bag could date no earlier than 1946, when West Germany became a country. While I'm no expert on bags, the bit of research I've done leads me to believe tha ...click for details

The weavers at the legendary Toadlena "Two Grey Hills" trading post make these charming and authentic miniature Native American looms to sell at the trading post for extra money. Each comes complete with a hand carved small weaver's comb and batten, the long piece weavers use to push down the yarn tight as they go. I purchased this at the post about five years ago. Not only is the item unique, but also consider that the weaver actually has to create a small "rug" desi ...click for details

These charming pins were popular in the 1940s and many were copied into Bakelite forms. It's harder and harder to find them in mint condition, like this one. Details such as the reins and eye being intact add value, as well as the eye being inset and not painted on. They don't get better than this. For any horse lover. The pictures do not reflect the actual item size. See description of measurements. Brooch measures 3 inches by 2 ¾ inches.
