Exquisite hand-colored copperplate engraved map from John Speed's "Theatre of the Empire of Great Britain" which was first published in 1611. This map is of the Anglo-Saxon Heptarchy-the ancient division of seven regional kingdoms-"Britain as it was devided in the tyme of the Englishe Saxony."
