Doulton Lambeth Ewer, Hannah Barlow

Nice Royal Doulton ewer with scenic design by Hannah Barlow. Hannah Barlow was the first woman to be employed by Henry Doulton and, arguably, the most talented. She is known for her use of sgraffito-a technique where one color is scratched off to reveal a different color underneath. Main frieze depicts horses and sheep on mustard colored background. Blue and brown glaze at top. Some discoloration to metal. Bottom has various marks including: Lambeth Doulton and a date of 1876. Dimensions: 8.5" h (overall) x 4.5" w x 4" d.
