This is a very cute Praying Chair made from solid beech wood by the end of the reign of Napoleon III. This adorable piece is representing the Easter Cross as its was depicted in Europe with the black Cross mounted with drape and the tools used to torture and kill Christ. Such representation is very common especially in France and Italy. Note that the fabric must be replaced and that a small part of the spear is missing. Circa date 1870. Splendid handcrafted Marble Tabernacle Facade mostly made from solid Carerra marble and featuring a pair of tapered and accented columns made from Red Griotte Marble flanking the arched brass door intricately accented with the Initial A.M. The lock and the key are in original condition. The pair of bronze brackets located on each upper corner was used to hold a pair of torchieres, which have been sold separately. Circa date 1860. Dimensions 22”high/ 19”wide/ 3 ½”deep.
