We offer a pair of fabulous Alexandrite Glass Art Deco stylized ram figures ca 1960. Created, without doubt, by Archimede Seguso! The quality of the modeling is impeccable, and the color shading and light handling puts this pair of figures in another sphere! The pictures say it all. This page features a rare perfume bottle from the firm of Archimede Seguso in the 1950s or early 60s. This diminutive bottle is the first we’ve ever seen from the firm of A. Seguso with a corroso finish, and we’ve owned and seen hundreds! It was somewhat difficult to photograph, so we tried both light and dark backgrounds. This is an exceptional representation of a fox - "volpe" in Italian - most likely rendered by Archimede Seguso. While the colors are not typical of his figural works, the quality of the modeling is very strong. This guy is made of an opalescent base glass, with chocolate brown accents. This item carries the label of the firm V.A.M., which was owned by Giovanni Pinzan, Bruno Cimarosti, and Giovanni Andreotta during the 1950s, and may have been made by Ermanno Nason, who was working there at that time. We offer another one of the finest vases by Archimede Seguso that I’ve had the pleasure to own! We sold a similar vase in cranberry opaline recently through Trocadero. The Opalino series vases were designed and made by A. Seguso in 1955, and are featured in virtually every reference of his work. The essence of these vases lies in opalescent bodies, usually with fine sfumato gold, and clear encalmo-applied rims that were also fumed with gold. The powder box and one of the bottles carry the acid stamp “Made in Italy” mark used by Venini at the time. This item is sommerso perfume in orange glass, cased with neodymium alexandrite glass, a formula which produces color shifts in different light sources. In fluorescent lighting, as in these pictures, the casing is a light blue-gray. In tungsten or daylight conditions, it appears to be pink. It’s a very appealing combination of colors in a great shape. It carries a remnant of the label used by Seguso Vetri d’Arte in the 1950s or early 60s. ...click for details
