Three strands of birds hand carved by the master Zuni Indian fetish maker, Leekya Deyusee. 82 birds of turquoise, coral, jet, abalone and green sea snail, including a pair of coral birds as earrings. Each well defined bird with distinct personality is strung through a pedestal and they fly with their beaks downward. The longest bird at the center is 1 3/4" and the smallest is 3/4", a very impressive sized group. Overall necklace length is 34", it hangs gracefully and is quite spectacular! Judging by the bright blue turquoise and style of carving, we estimate it was made in the 1950-60 era. Leekya passed on in 1966 and had been losing his eyesight for some time, so we know he could see well to make these carvings. Overall condition is fine, there are four birds with either a missing beak or tail. They can be removed, or left in place, at the buyers discretion. The black display stand was created for this masterpiece so it can be enjoyed as an objet d'art! From an Estate, this necklace has been in a box for over 30 years, now it needs to be worn and enjoyed. Shipping and insurance is $50.00. Original Price $18,500.00,
Reduced price is $12,500.00
