Traditional style Salako Mana Kachina is beautifully carved by Hopi Indian artist Fred Ross. This magnificent hanging tihu is 20" tall to the top of the tableta, which is nicely crafted, like a real tableta for a Kachina. Dangling earrings, abalone shell and feathers are nice details. Signed.Fred Ross is a featured artist in Jonathan Day's book "Traditional Hopi Kachinas, A New Generation of Carvers". Beautiful bright colors represent, clouds, rainbows, rain and lightning and feathers. This major work by Fred Ross comes back to us from a collection and there is one small abrasion to the paint on the corn, but hardly noticeable. Otherwise lovely condition. Buyer pays $30.00 for shipping.

Hu Kachina is carved in the new traditional style by Hopi Indian artist Bendrew Atokuku of Second Mesa. Bendrew is from Shungopovi, Water Clan, and is a featured artist in Jonathan Day's book "Traditional Hopi Kachinas, A New Generation of Carvers". We only see a couple of carvings from Bendrew each year and they are always exceptional.
The Tungwup Whipper Kachina is beautifully carved from dried cottonwood root, with arms separate from body. Nicely dressed with leather bandoliers, tiny shells, horsehair, fur and feathers. This hanging Kachina is 11" tall plus feathers, signed. The Hu Kachinas are the Initiation whippers who appear before Bean Dance in certain years.
Buyer pays $20.00 for packing and shipping.
