Kokopelli Kachinas come in many varieties, but we rarely see these seed bringing Kokopelli's, called colorful or corn Kokopelli. They represent fertility and carry the seeds in their humpback.

Carved from cottonwood root by hopi Indian artist Fred Ross who is featured in Jonathan Day's book "Traditional Hopi Kachinas, A New Generation of Carvers".

This colorful Kachina stands or hangs and is 12" tall. Signed.

Traditional style Salako Mana Kachina is beautifully carved by Hopi Indian artist Fred Ross. This magnificent hanging tihu is 20" tall to the top of the tableta, which is nicely crafted, like a real tableta for a Kachina. Dangling earrings, abalone shell and feathers are nice details. Signed.

Fred Ross is a featured artist in Jonathan Day's book "Traditional Hopi Kachinas, A New Generation of Carvers".

Beautiful bright colors represent, clouds, rainbows, rain and lightning and feathers.

This major work by Fred Ross comes back to us from a collection and there is one small abrasion to the paint on the corn, but hardly noticeable. Otherwise lovely condition.

Tewa Clown Kachina is carved by Thomas Duwyenie of Hotevilla, in the traditional style.

Carved from a very large dried cottonwood root, the one piece tihu has neat carved details including moccasins, kilt, watermelon and piki bread. The horns are delightfully twisted and his body is bent in motion.

This hanging Kachina is 21" tall to the top of corn husks. Signed.

Hu Kachina is carved in the new traditional style by Hopi Indian artist Bendrew Atokuku of Second Mesa. Bendrew is from Shungopovi, Water Clan, and is a featured artist in Jonathan Day's book "Traditional Hopi Kachinas, A New Generation of Carvers". We only see a couple of carvings from Bendrew each year and they are always exceptional.

The Tungwup Whipper Kachina is beautifully carved from dried cottonwood root, with arms separate from body. Nicely dressed with leather bandoliers, tiny shells, horsehair, fur and feathers. This hanging Kachina is 11" tall plus feathers, signed.

The Hu Kachinas are the Initiation whippers who appear before Bean Dance in certain years.

Aya, a gourd rattle with cottonwood root handle is traditionally hand crafted by Hopi Indian artist Larry Melendez. Larry is featured in Jonathan Day's book "Traditional Hopi Kachinas, A New Generation of Carvers".

This type of gourd rattle is given to boys by Kachinas during Powamu and Home Dance.

The gourd is 5 1/2 inches diameter by 5 inches long, the pheasant and parrot feathers add 8 inches.
