Blue ribbon winner pottery jar from the 1955 Gallup Ceremonial is a mate to the following tall neck jar.

Elegant pottery vase hand crafted by Maricopa Indian artist Mary Juan has the classic elongated neck and globular body for which the Maricopa are known. But nobody did it better than Mary Juan. She was also one of the few to make a handle in the Grecian style.

Perfectly shaped vessel is highly burnished red slip and painted with mesquite sap in Mary's signature design. Pit fired. Signed.

$750.00

Two colored pottery vessel from the early 20th century, hand crafted Maricopa Indian from Arizona.

This artist had inspiration from several sources, the Pueblo form of a Wedding Vase, leaves and flowers from commercial dishes and her own Wheel of Life, for good luck!

This excellent condition pottery stands 6" tall and is 6 1/2" across the spouts.

Buyer pays $20.00 for shipping and insurance.

$775.00

Pre-1938 pottery bowl with Wheels of Life and frogs. Maricopa Indian of Arizona. The big eyed frogs peer over the rim of the well formed bowl, traditional painted designs on deep red slip and pit fired.

Although the origin of this pottery was a mystery to a couple of its owners, Papago and Pima are both written on the bottom, we are sure this is Maricopa.

Wonderful condition, this bowl is 3 1/2" deep by 5" diameter.

Buyer pays $15.00 for shipping and insurance.

$750.00

Charming effigy pot with two heads made by the Maricopa Indians of Arizona. Made in the style of the Mojave effigy pottery, we can tell by the slipped clay and red iron oxide paint that this is Maricopa.

In the 1960s, an Indian art Dealer urged some Maricopa potters to make effigy pots like those of Annie Fields and Elmer Gates. Since the Maricopa were originally over on the Colorado River, they felt comfortable with that idea. We have seen effigies by Mabel Sunn, Vesta Bread, Barbara Johnson, Therolina Bread and Warren Oliver. My best guess is Barbara Johnson.

This unsigned piece has painted tattoos and beaded jewelry. Stands 7 1/2" tall by 8" across the spouts.

Excellent condition, circa 1960s.

Buyer pays $20.00 for shipping and insurance.

SOLD!

Fine miniature pottery seed jar by Joseph Lonewolf, circa 1972. Sgrafitto carved, two tone fired clay pinch pot is 1" tall by 1 1/4" wide.

Lonewolf is the originator of this style, both the sgrafitto carving and the two tone firing. Beginning back in the 1960s, Lonewolf encouraged his sister, Grace Medicine Flower and their father Camilio Sunflower Tafoya to leave the old traditional style of Santa Clara Pueblo Pottery behind. They became one of the most famous of all the pottery dynasties.

This little pot was originally part of a set of twelve "pottery jewels" meant to be collected as a group. Over time many of these tiny gems have become separated and are available individually.

Dynamic design of the Avanyu and the Sun cover the upper surface which is red and buff while the polished under half is black. Signed and dated.

Buyer pays $12.00 for shipping and insurance.

Santa Clara Pueblo Indian artist Grace Medicine Flower created this fine sgrafitto seed jar in 1974.

Traditionally built pottery is finely carved through the highly polished red slip. The 2 1/4" ball shaped pottery features two eagles separated with bands of intricate design. This early work by Grace is fine and in mint condition.

Grace Medicine Flower is the daughter of Camilio Tafoya and the sister of Joseph Lonewolf.

Buyer pays $15.00 for shipping and insurance.
