Ida Redbird, synonymous with Maricopa Indian pottery, created this red pottery pitcher for the tourist and collector market, circa 1950-70.

Ida Redbird, 1892-1971, was one of the original members of the Maricopa Pottery Revival of 1937-40, an Arizona Woman's Hall of Fame honoree and lovely lady!

Traditionally hand built with native clay, stone burnished red slip is decorated with scrolls and frets of mesquite sap paint, pit fired. signed.

The European style pitcher stands 7 1/2" tall. 5 1/2" diameter. Fine original condition.

From a fine local collection of folk art pottery by the Indians of Arizona.
