SOLD!

Antique Indian beadwork. Ute Indian beaded leather bag, tab bag. Reservation Era, circa 1890-1910. This is a woman's side bag to carry her valuables.

A variety of pieces of leather are handsewn with thread to form the flat sheath, the tapered piece at the bottom is a recycled toe of a mocassin. This pouch measures 8 1/2" long by 3 3/4" across at the top, handcut braintanned leather fringe with tin tinklers extends 1 1/2".

Very old tiny glass seed beads of greasy yellow, pink, two blues and old teal plus clear beads, white and white hearts are lazy stitched with both thread and sinew. The beads across the top were added at some point in time, probably by the original owner, everything else is original. Under the flap is a wood stick to keep the pouch from buckling.

Antique Native American Indian beadwork is one of the most desirable of all Indian collectibles, most having not survived daily use. And Ute Indian beadwork is rare due to the small population number of Utes. Please feel free to contact us for any other information we can give.Buyer pays $10.00 for shipping.
