Old Papago Indian Yucca Basketry Bowl

The mellow golden color of the aged yucca and the strong black devils claw design make a striking graphic basketry bowl. Papago Indian, circa 1930s, the weave is strong and the walls are firm, just like a bowl. The modified "Wheels of Life" design gives us the date. It was not used after 1938. To the Papago and Pima Indians of Arizona it represents the dust devils which are the breath of the ancestors.

Very good structural condition, amazingly there are no missing stitches. Some discoloration on the bottom, may have been a fruit basket.

Dimensions are 10" diameter by 4" deep.

Buyer pays $12.00 for shipping.
