Traditionally hand crafted with native clay by Maria, stone burnished to a high shine, then decorated with the feather design by her son Popovi Da. Together they pit fired their pottery to the deep black using wood and dried sheep dung.

There is some wear from handling as pictured. No cracks, chips or restoration. Inside is a small area of wax that doesn't want to come out easily, so we left it.

This is a fine example of San Ildefonso Pueblo pottery by the world's most famous mother and son artists, Maria Martinez and Popovi Da.
