| Bold, confident repoussage and fantastic oxidation that has been enhanced with the patina of years past, this is a big Margot de Taxco figural brooch in a design that doesn't surface very often. This is the truer to nature version of Margot's swans and the detail in the bird's plumage is beyond description - I have taken some detail photos to illustrate the quality of craftsmanship. Interestingly enough, the brooch's seam at the upper part of the ornate tail is "open" by design and it has been suggested that this piece could possibly be used as a posy holder too - or it could just be a way to enhance the brooch's three dimensional feel. Measuring 3" tall by 1 1/2" wide the pin weighs 33.8 grams. It is fully signed with Margot's name, des. no 5144 and Eagle 16 and dates in the mid-1950s. In excellent vintage condition. | ||
