This bracelet is a unique and exceptional example of Mexican silverwork of Pedro Castillo who worked for William Spratling at Taller de Las Delicias, as well as for Hector Aguilar at Taller Borda. With a rarely seen Pre-Columbian Frog design, this bracelet has four panels connected with pin hinges.
The frog is considered a symbol of life and fertility.
This is an entirely hand-wrought piece, with a deeply chased design boasting a darkly oxidized background.
The bracelet measures a closed, wearable length of 7 & 1/8", and a width of 1 & 5/8". Safety chain is original to the piece, and measures 3 ½”. Closure is a tight and secure tongue in box. Weighs 74 grams. Fully signed and hallmarked with a conjoined "PC" within a circular "Taxco Hecho en Mexico", STERLING, AND “103” (possibly a design number).
This piece is a real treasure, collector quality!
