Japanese 20th century bronze vase by Living National Treasure bronze artist TAKAMURA TOYOCHIKA (1890-1972). TOYOCHIKA was the son of he famous sculptor TAKAMURA KOUN. In 1908 he became the student of famous bronze artist TSUDA SHINOBU and in 1915 he graduated from the Tokyo School of Fine Arts. He received many awards at TEITEN and other major exhibitions. Japanese 19th century carved and painted wooden DAINICHI NYORAI statue. DAINICHI NYORAI is the cosmic Buddha, the Japanese version of Vairocana, one of the Five Dhyani Buddhas. This statue was possibly carved by a Buddhist monk from a single piece of wood. The entire statue measures 14 1/2" tall, 8" wide and 6" deep.
Japanese Early 20th century portable shrine. The shrine is dated March 1, 1926 by the artist, Yamada Youemon. The goddess is the Daki Nitten Kannon who is riding on a fox.
