Japanese Edo Period pair of wooden carvings of Monju and Fugen Bosatsu. The pair is dated 1699, and although there is some age to the pair, they were most likely made later. In the legend of Monju and Fugen, these two are princes of Amida Nyorai, Monju, an elder brother, rides a Shishi( historical lion ) expressing Tei(stable), Gyu(act), while Fugen, the younger, rides a white elephant expressing moral virtue. Japanese early 20th century bronze flower container. The wonderful piece is done in basket form with 2 crabs crawling around the surface. The basket and crabs are done realistically and in fine detail. The bronze piece comes with TOMOBAKO or original artist signed wooden storage box. The bronze container measures 14 1/4" tall by 5" wide.

Japanese early 20th century bronze USUBATA. The USUBATA has a wonderful dragon designed base and the upper part is a pierced base and top. The bottom of the pierced middle section has a chop mark reading SHOSAI. The USUBATA measures 16" wide, 13" tall and 14" in depth.

Japanese Mid - Late 20th century bronze vase with crane design by NEYA CHUROKU (1897-1987). The vase has a standing crane holding its head and neck up on the front and a crane bending down in the back. The bottom has the Churoku mark. Neya Churoku, a student of Tsuda Shinobu, exhibited at many exhibitions including the 1933 World Exhibition in Chicago and the 15th Teiten (1934) where he won the Tokusen (grand prize). Japanese Late Edo Period lacquered box. The design is of pine and persimmon trees. There are also some small bamboo and grasses at the base of the trees. Beautifully done in gold lacquering techniques, taka-makie, hira-makie, nashiji and kirigane. The box measures 4 5/8" wide, 5 1/8" depth and 5 1/8" tall.
