Japanese mid 19th century lacquer poem card box by master lacquer artist NAKAMURA SOUTETSU (1828-1884), 8th generation of master artists. The box is done in various lacquer techniques with the design of clouds and butterflies. The box comes with TOMOBAKO, original wooden artist signed storage box. Japanese circa 1900 bronze and mixed metal book marker. The blade of the book marker is done in a yellow bronze with a design of cymbidium orchid and a crab etched into the metal. The handle is done in mixed metals with the design of a Chinese general with a long spear standing next to a pine tree. Unsigned.

Japanese 19th century carved and painted wooden DAINICHI NYORAI statue. DAINICHI NYORAI is the cosmic Buddha, the Japanese version of Vairocana, one of the Five Dhyani Buddhas. This statue was possibly carved by a Buddhist monk from a single piece of wood. The entire statue measures 14 1/2" tall, 8" wide and 6" deep.

Japanese early 20th century KORANSHA porcelain vase with cormorant and chrysanthemum design. Most of the design is done in underglaze blue with overglaze enamel detailing on the cheeks of the cormorants and on the chrysanthemum blossoms. The vase has hand written stamp on bottom, KORANSHASEI, made by KORANSHA. There is slight restoration to side of foot, hence the low price. See last photo where the dots are. The vase measures 10" tall and 8" in diameter.

Japanese circa 1900 pair of silver vases. The vases have the design of chrysanthemum blossoms done in a wonderful chisel and low relief techniques. Some of the areas are gilded and others are done in Shakudo. Signed on the back of each vase, SEIHOU. ALso each vase has JUNGIN MITSUKOSHI stamped on the bottoms, meaning made of pure silver and from the Mitsukoshi Department Store art salon. Each vase measures 9 5/8" tall by 4 1/2" in diameter.

Japanese circa 1900 pair of wonderful IMARI plates. Each plate is in the shape of a chrysanthemum blossom with 16 petals. The plates are done in underglaze blue, overglaze red, green, black, brown and gold. Beautiful design of florals and geometric patterns. Design and markings in underglaze blue on back. Each plate measure 6" in diameter and stands 7/8" tall.
