| A Japanese MEIJI Period man's tobacco pouch and KISERUZUTSU pipe case set. The pipe case and tobacco pouch are made of black leather in simple shapes. The pipe case and tobacco pouch are connected to a MANJU type NETSUKE with silver chains. The OJIME is also in silver with peony design. The black leather pouch has a black, silver and gold metal clasp in the shape of a fantastic dragon wrapped around an important looking sword. The name of the artist, MIMYOU, is etched into the sword blade just above the handle. The inside of the clasp is done in silver with the design of a family of chicken beautifully and realistically etched into the silver metal. The clasp attached to the inside to a hook that is attached to an old Chinese coin minted in the Kiang Nan Province, in the late 1800's. The MANJU NETSUKE is of bowl form, which could have possibly been used as an ashtray at certain times. The pouch measures 5" wide and 3" tall and 1/2" thick. The pipe case measures 8" long and 1 1/2" wide and 3/8" thick. | |||||||||||||||
