An unusual blue & white plate decorated with willow tree and Chinese cabbage within a scrolling border. The border is very reminiscent of those found on early 18th century English silver with scallop shells joined with arabesques. A tall round box and cover with flower scrolls above a 'cracked ice' border. Unusually the lid is decorated with a depiction of a pocket watch. A “CLOBBERED” KANGXI JARLET, CIRCA 1720.

This petite porcelain jarlet arrived in Europe at time when coloured ware was becoming popular and so a resourceful merchant took what was originally a blue & white jarlet and had it enamelled with the new colours. Each plate with a central design of a parrot perched on a stunted branch and distracted by a passing insect.
