Bizen Sencha Daruma Tea Pot, signed, 19thC.
A JAPANESE BIZEN STONEWARE SENCHA POT, 19TH CENTURY.

An eccentric little hand-formed stoneware teapot, the lis surmounted with a simple figure depicting Daruma. On the body can be found two further depictions of Daruma. The base has two stamps that are probably impossible to read, on the inside of the lid is a further mark. Bizen yaki is high-fired and unglazed stoneware, it relies on differing kiln conditions for its vitrified surface.

Approximately 8.8cm maximum width. Well used but in fine undamaged condition.

Please study the photographs.
