Fine Large Blanc de Chine Rhinoceros Libation Cup, 17C
A CHINESE BLANC DE CHINE LIBATION CUP, MID 17TH CENTURY.

A white Dehua porcelain cup, the design based upon rhinoceros horn cups of the late Ming and early Kangxi. These cups whilst not uncommon are harder to find in this larger size. The cup has a dragon and clouds above a tiger, a deer beneath a pine tree and a flying stork. The porcelain is translucent and is straw coloured where it pools. The fitted stand is included.

Approximately 12.5 cm maximum width. 10.3 cm high including the stand. The cup is in fine condition with no cracks or restoration. One side of the mouth rim has had some roughness ground here and there, this could have been to remove 'flea bites' on the edge. One is larger and so a glaze flake has been ground. These are not easily spotted by the naked eye.

Please study the photographs.
