Fine Satsuma Bowl, Signed, 19thC.
AN ATTRACTIVE SATSUMA BOWL, MEIJI, 19TH CENTURY.

A hexagonal earthenware bowl with a typical finely crazed clear glaze, decorated boldly with thick enamels including the striking gosu blue and crusty gold. The interior design is of a scholar’s table with a partially unwrapped set of scrolls, a further scroll opened on a brocade cloth. To the side of the table is a tripod supporting a small oil lamp, its light attracting three bats. The exterior is painted with flowers above a brocade border. Within the foot-rim is the signature of the maker, perhaps Eizan, below a Shimizu mon.

Approximately 4.1/8 inches (10.5 cm) diameter. Excellent condition. Please study the photographs.

I am based in the United Kingdom so charges made to credit cards are in GBP ( British Pounds ) and your credit card issuer automatically converts the charge to the currency of your country. Payment may also be made by direct bank transfer in GBP as long as all fees are paid by the sender. I am sorry but I cannot accept a cash transfer payment by Western Union as I don’t have an office nearby.
