A FINE ‘DOUBLE PEACOCK’ FAMILLE ROSE EXPORT PLATE, 18TH CENTURY.
The double peacock motif is associated with Chinese porcelain exports to Portugal, in particular to the Portuguese court where it was highly regarded. This plate is beautifully painted and in excellent condition. The peacock and peahen are perched on rocks painted in thin grey and iron-red enamel, the enamels are not worn, they are just very pale. Chinese export porcelain made specifically for the West, Qianlong period, circa 1750. Approximately 8.15/16 inches (22.7 cm) diameter. Excellent condition, no frits, chips, cracks or restoration. Please study the photographs.
