This high-grade silver spirit kettle on stand is a product from the renowned Wang Hing workshop. Wang Hing was a prolific maker with outlets in both Hong Kong and Canton. 1875 ~ 1925. The workshop produced a large range of items from tiny silver novelties to dragon tea sets; I would suggest that if you wanted something from near the very top of the Wang Hing range then this perhaps is it.

A fine spherical kettle with three horn-shaped feet, decorated with a grand pair of dragons and an elegant bamboo style spout. The lid has a superb dragon finial, detachable for easy cleaning. The thickness of the silver is substantial and has avoided dents. The kettle has had very little use and this is reflected in the still crisp details. The kettle is marked WH for Wang Hing, 90 for the silver standard, and an artisan’s name “Pai” meaning a father’s elder brother or senior.

Approximately 12 inches (30 cm) high. The kettle is approximately 630 grams, the stand and burner is approximately 320 grams. Excellent condition. The shoulder rim of the spirit burner has had a small knock downwards, not that noticeable. Please study the photographs.
