A small round porcelain box and cover decorated in under glaze blue with a pair of flying birds and scrolling foliage on a pale blue ground. The box has obviously been recovered from the sea and bears a resemblance to a box in the British Museum, purchased from the Hatcher cargo, dated to 1643.

2.3/16 inches (5.6 cm) diameter. The glaze is degraded but is still attractive. The locating rim on the base has missing parts, otherwise fine condition. Please study the photographs.
