An honest Inuit Eskimo carving from soapstone. The soapstone has an unusual translucent green in the head area. The beak has been colored red, in mating season the Puffins beak turns red. This piece is vintage, it is signed J.R.Oktollik. It has all the classic etching decoration, and is a classic very good piece of Native American Eskimo art. It is about 3 1/2" long and 2 1/2" tall.
An outstanding fine Owl and Cactus plate by Jose Bernabe. A very famous artist for his Petatillo work. Probably done in the 1960s. Tonal Mexico, 11 3/4" across and no damage and no wear. A very good price for this artists work. From a Palm Springs California estate collection.
I was told that these unusual hand carved stone figures were carved by the Women of Bolivia. I was told they were meant to trap and hold sorrows and worry. What ever the function this piece is a wonderful piece of one of a kind folk art. It is from Bolivia and marked as such on the bottom. I would guess the age to be between 10 and 20 years old. It is 3 1/2" tall. No chips or damage.
