Well protected in an estate this beautiful Elephant Ivory carving is in perfect condition. It is Saraswati, the Hindu Goddess of Arts and Music. It was carved at least 60 years ago from one top quality piece of elephant tusk. Is if from India. It is just under 3 1/2" tall, fully round with no damage. A most unique vintage relic. This beautiful prayer box was handmade in Tibet. The front if chased in relief coin silver,with the symbols of Buddhist prosperity. The box is copper, it opens from the back to place in it a prayer. The coin silver copper round box is 3 1/4" diam. and about 1" deep. The box window contains a Green Tara Buddhist icon. This is a traditional Indian toy with a brass animal on wheels. This is a smaller version than most. It is 2 1/2" tall and rare for this miniature size. As you can see it is a lost wax casting, primitive but very charming. It is a rider atop an Elephant. Probably 40 to 50 years old. A nice piece.
This cast metal piece is a handsome rendition of Hanuman the Monkey God. He is hard to find in a monkey form as this one is he usually looks more human than monkey and that is why I find this piece unusual. The patina is both natural and enhanced but he is older, perhaps 40 years. The metal base is a mixture of copper, brass and or bronze.
