I have seen a number of names attached to this type of crude export ware from Japan. It is probably not Sumida, but I have seen them called poo ware to describe the raised relief decoration set into the body of the piece. You can see a Buddha Figure. This piece is in excellent condition and double marked, Made in Japan on bottom and a stamp boxed glyph on the back bottom that I can not make out. This piece is about 5 3/4" tall. It is at least 70 or 80 years old.

Smoking items and souvenirs may not always reach the level of art and skill that this metal ashtray achieves. It is a really beautiful example of souvenir tourist craft. It is a white metal base with glass dome covering the Nikko temple. Marked "MADE IN JAPAN". It is 5" diameter and has no damage, was never used for its intent. It has great decorations around the outside also. An attractive conversation piece and a collectible that will grow in value.

This doll is priced below what it cost. It is a very fine quality Folk Art doll from Japan. It is in the Gosho doll tradition of wood body, chalk white laquer skin and hand dressed in brocade. He carries a hand carved lion dancers lion mask. He is 6" tall and comes on a black laquer stand. The down turn in Japanese economy makes this a very good time to buy anything of quality that has been made in Japan, in particular in a folk art standard that is as outstanding as this doll.
