This doll is priced below what it cost. It is a very fine quality Folk Art doll from Japan. It is in the Gosho doll tradition of wood body, chalk white laquer skin and hand dressed in brocade. He carries a hand carved lion dancers lion mask. He is 6" tall and comes on a black laquer stand. This very colorful rose canton ginger jar was made probably 60 or 70 years ago. Not quite antique, but old style and mark. It has thick overglaze enamel colors and a great deal of hand work. Some stamping with black outlines which indicates its age. It has no damage and is in like new condition. It is 5" high and about 5" wide. This age piece is still a very good price. These are now much harder to find and going up in price all the time. Now is a good time to buy.

I worked for years before I could come up with the right formula, right temperature to fire, right designs that could be sculpted from pressing in order to recreate Egyptian jewelry using the clay paste known as Fiaence. The piece of Jade that was used to cut this piece was probably Bowenite. The piece has a wonderful color and has the look of nephrite jade [old jade] but it is not, and it is much less expensive. No one would know that this is less than the real treasure of an Empress. A wonderfull desigh and execution strung with jade ball beads on silk thread.
