An intricate complex detailed and wonderful set of three monkeys hang from a tree branch. This is a fine quality cast bronze from China. It is not old but it does come from a skilled workshop. The monkeys lock together to form a chain. They do not unlock because of a very clever and complex design. A most unique item and somewhat of an odd mix of qualities. This teapot was made for use by one person for one cup of tea or to be used to drink out of the spout. The porcelain clay workmanship is some what crude, with firing cracks and a primitive original lid. There are no marks. This is an undamaged set of porcelain horses usually called the Emperors Lucky horses. There are 8 traditional poses in wonderful rich Tang color glazed. These old horses were made a few decades ago. They have very fine details and very fine castings. It is rare to find a set of 8 undamaged. I found these in San Francisco where they were imported many decades ago. The average length is 3".
