Outstanding antique piece of carved Elephant ivory forms the pendant drop on this necklace. The piece was strung by Terrill Smith using hand press european pressed glass beads with a chinese key, enameled silver wire beads and old glass . The necklace beads hang 12" and the ivory carved pendant is 3" long, 1/2" deep,overall length is 24". Great skill in carving of ivory, great detail in beads and stringing, no damage. These beautiful little carvings were done as export novelties around or before 1900. They are very good chunks of Elephant ivory, carved well before any excessive hunting. They have been colored and have not been exposed to light so the colors are still as brilliant as they were 100 years ago. The male is about 2 1/4" long and since ivory is now sold by gram weight, these are a very low price for there size. No damage and legal.
