| You see a tour de force of miniature paper toy construction. This is a miniaturized contruction of a larger Antique Paper toy theater set from Imagerie D'Epinal [thank you tarotgirl for posting sheet]. This is the Temptation of St. Anthony [ Tentation De Saint Antoine]. You see the Devil Theater, two layer backdrop with the Church. There is also a side piece overlayer of the fire breathing dragon setting the church on fire. There are 8 very tiny players mounted on wood bases to stand [two devils with most foul swine included]. You see a final scene backdrop with St.Anthony in Heaven with 3 lovely angels. My actual sets have much sharper printing than the photos can show you, due to very small size of pieces. A profound detailed paper toy scaled for a dolls house or miniature room. It is 2 1/4" tall, 1 1/2" wide and 1 1/4" deep. All hand cut and assembled, smallest actor devil is 1/4" tall. I do all this work by hand and it is most time consuming, but done with great care and love to assemble an important reproduction of a fantastic antique paper theater. My work is in private and public collections throughout the world. This is a most wonderful piece of original art. | ||
