In this beautiful oil on board, George Raab captures a tranquil Wisconsin landscape- a sparkling lake surrounds a lone fisherman with a stand of pines rising high on the horizon. Untitled and dreamy, this small work of impressionism likely was executed during his years in Milwaukee, 1899-1912. It appears in a gold Florentine frame. Signed on lower right corner. This superbly simple vase is an excellent example of the pattern, which was produced from 1924-1928 under the art direction of Frank Ferrel. Distinguished by its six-panel shape, the 5" pot features a chocolate brown matt glaze with a single orange "bleeding heart" decoration on alternate sides.
