Fine Mexican silver filigree earrings. Traditional Mazahua design -- an aesthetic reference later to influence the designs of Matilde Poulat and among the indigenous jewelry favored by Frida Kahlo. Each filigree curve is hand shaped, cut, and then soldered into place -- a remarkable level of skill and fine silversmithing to create a pair of earrings this delicate. Measure 2 1/4" by 1 /2". Beautiful chandelier earrings. Design influenced by the long standing traditional adornments of the Mazahua people of Central Mexico. Earrings are made by local artisan who studied with and worked for one of the 50 great folk artists (Maestros) of Mexico. Marked with 925 (silver content.) Measure 2 1/4" by 1". Charming and flattering chandelier earrings.
