Hand made Mexican silver necklace based on design elements that date back to before the arrival of the Spanish. The adornments of the Mazahua women of Mexico are inspired by those things that are found around them -- doves, flowers, leaves, and (as here) butterflies. This necklace is entirely hand made and features a central butterfly who is decorated with beautiful floral elements. Two doves sit in accompaniment. Linking is a combination of alternating flowers and butterflies and a filigree sty ...click for details

A finely smithed pair of Mexican silver filigree silver earrings. Inspired by designs that pre-date the Spanish and which were quite likely, in part, an element that informed the original designs of Matilde Poulat. This pair, as with all the pairs, entirely hand made exhibit a lovely, flattering movement. Neither too big, nor too small --- they measure 3" long and 1 5/8" (at their widest). Lovely.

Wonderful, larger design, handmade Mexican silver earrings. Palomas (doves) and hand made filigree pattern inspired by the traditional adornment of the Mazahua people, an indigenous group of Mexico. All work done by hand: including repousse and hand stamping. Quite possibly one of the sources that informed the jewelry of Matilde Poulat. Certainly similar to pieces favored by Frida Kahlo. This marvelous pair hang 3 1/4". Though larger, they are still quite comfortable and wearable. A beautif ...click for details

Design is derived from the traditional silver earrings worn by many of the women from Central Mexico. Wonderful example of inspiration found in the every day ... chickens, water jugs, doves. Very pretty, repousse Mexican silver earrings from the designs of the Mazahua jewelry. An indigenous culture occupying Central Mexico, the Mazahua women have been wearing these types of earrings for generation. Quite likely a source of inspiration for the jewelry of Matilde Poulat and a style of jewelry favored by Frida Kahlo. This pair of pierced earrings are worn in the traditional manner with the arc being essentially parallel to the neck. Quite comfortable and flattering.
