| A beautiful vintage Mexican silver necklace by Maestra Matilde Poulat. This wonderful, classic design has been exquisitely smithed - utilizing a technique (often considered a lost art in current Taxco talleres) known as repousse. Labor intensive and requiring a high degree of skill and experience, the design is slowly, painstakingly 'hammered' out in the reverse. Each and every Palomas design by Matilde Poulat has its own character and 'feel'. This one, in a scale that is quite pleasing and easy to wear, features a wonderful, lavish use of repousse links: the doves, the roses, the ferns, the Maya inspired links. All links have been finished in exceptional detail. In excellent vintage condition. Correctly hallmarked for a ca. 1940s-450s Matl piece. Thoughtfully finished with a rose and hook close. A very fine example of vintage Mexican silver - in a very special design. | ||||||||||||
