| Large and beautiful vintage Mexican silver ~ amethyst pin in the style of Fred Davis. One large division of design types found in early vintage Mexican silver pieces is that between designs influenced by a European aesthetic/or fashion sensibility and those influenced by pre-Colombian aesthetics. This marvelous piece most distinctly falls into the more Euro-inspired camp. Large silver folds create a bow the center of which is finished with a single opulent amethyst cabochon framed by smaller amethysts. I believe that this piece comes to us out of Mexico City and is, most likely an unmarked Fred Davis piece. Measuring a rather large 3 7/8" across and 2 3/4" in height. It is in excellent vintage condition. A lovely, fine piece. | |||||||
