|Printed in 1972, this image is one of Charley Harper's (American 1922-2007) most desirable, and epitomizes his modernist, geometric view of the wildlife that he revered. His stylized images of birds and other fauna are now iconic, with unique and powerful imagery, color, and the simplicity that he mastered. Born in West Virginia in 1922, with an early desire to be an artist, he sought a career in illustration and design, but ultimately found success in depicting the wildlife and woods that he so loved. With his wife and son he founded Harper Studios, and created hundreds of images that are distinct, appealing, and uniquely his own. More information regarding this artist, and this image, can be found at www.charleyharperprints.com. This image is signed and numbered 1495/1500 and is matted and framed in silver metal; the framed size is 17 1/4" x 22 1/8", and the sight size is 13 3/8 x 18 5/8" (according to his website, this sheet measures 17" x 22"). It appears to be in good condition, with a few very small lighter dots in the upper left corner, along with an indentation to the surface to the right (there is a photo of this area, and there is reflection of the camera also). Most photos show some reflection, but the image is quite clear and distinct. The mat is a wheat/buff color.|
