| This is a partial set of the series "Orchestra" by Piero Fornasetti (Italian 1913-1988), the famed designer known for his fascinating works in ceramic and other media. The plates each measure 10 1/8" in diameter and are signed on the back with the number of each design. Each depicts a group of musical instruments in yellow, orange, and various shades of brown on a faux wood background. The five plates include one of design number 1, and two each of design numbers 3 and 5. As they have been used, there are minor losses to the enamel, and one photo shows a close up of the wear, but there are no chips or cracks. Fanciful and artful, these plates are representative of Fornasetti's wonderful imagination and sense of design. | ||
