$550

Here is a lovely set of late Victorian era silver. The spoon is 9” long, the knife is 10-1/2” and together they weigh 6.22 oz. The bowl of the spoon measures 3-1/4 x 2-1/2”, the blade of the knife is about 4-1/2”. They are marked with the boar’s head for 800 Silver, and with a “J” and a “G” separated by a stylized grapevine for J. Granvign. (The mark on the knife is much clearer than on the spoon.) I believe the spoon bowl and the knife blade had a gold wash, as they are still very faintly gold. ...click for details

$2,500

Here are four identical serving dishes, described to me by their owner as eggplant shaped. These came down to her through her mother-in-law, Nina, who came from a quite well-do-do family. They lived in France when Nina was young, and brought many beautiful antiques back with them (we also have a Sterling coffee/tea set from their collection, which we will be listing soon). These dishes are 950 silver (marked with the Minerva head with the 1), and Emile Hugo’s maker’s mark. Hugo was working in Pa ...click for details

$395

This gorgeous little antique purse by Unger Bros. has a wonderful swirling flower motif on both sides. It is monogrammed on one side only. Inside it has 3 compartments for cards, change, or whatever – and in fact there is an antique calling card in the case already. Apparently it belonged to Mrs. Adrian Jordan! It measures 3-1/2 x 3-1/4" and has a depth, when shut, of about 5/8”. The silver chain is 18” long. The outside is in very good condition, with the patina one would expect. The leath ...click for details

Here is an intriguing cigarette case. I believe the black pattern is done with niello enamel. It has a flower motif on both sides, and a space for a monogram on one side, but hasn’t had one added. It is marked (and tests as) sterling silver. The piece measures 3-7/8 x 2-15/16”, and weighs in at 4.92 ounces. In excellent condition, though since the elastic is in such good condition, I’m assuming it is probably a replacement. I believe this case is pre-1920.

$150

This sweet little purse is in excellent condition. The top is base metal, unmarked, with a lady wearing hat that appears to be made out of a flower. Maybe she’s a fairy, if she is small enough to use a flower that way? The body of the purse is crocheted of a beige-colored string or thread, and then decorated with beads in a sort of spiky spiral pattern. The lid measures 2-1/3”. These were being made at the turn of the last century, and probably before. In excellent condition.

Here is a lovely spoon with wild roses twining up the handle. It’s signed by Reed & Barton, and is also marked STERLING; PAT. APPL'D FOR; C D PEACOCK (jeweler), and NECTARINE. It is 5-3/4" long, and weighs approximately 25.6g. "CHICAGO" is engraved in fancy lettering in the bowl. There is a gold wash on both sides bowl which is somewhat worn. This pattern is called “Intaglio” and also “Nectarine” pattern. Antique.

The Durgin Iris pattern is my very favorite. The Nouveau presentation of irises – tall and elegant – in sterling silver – what’s not to love? This tea spoon has the marks for Durgin, Sterling, and Rowe Bros, the retailers. It’s monogrammed “CC” on the back. It has been polished, but still shows a patina commensurate with its age, as well as a few deeper scratches. It measures 6”, and weighs in at 1.07oz or 30.3g. The Durgin company was founded in 1853, and purchased by Gorham in 1905. Circa 1900 ...click for details

Here is a petite spoon in the Egyptian revival style, but it is entirely unmarked, so I was unable to discover anything about it. The design of its handle depicts a winged scarab holding the sun, and a lotus – classic Egyptian motifs. It’s 4-1/2” long, and weighs 14.1 g. I’m guessing it’s pre-1930.

CLEARANCE SALE: $450

This delightful and absolutely mad inkwell is just fascinating! It is primarily an Egyptian Revival piece, centering the Goddess Hathor (a goddess of music, dance, foreign lands and fertility who helped women in childbirth [ - Wikipedia]). She is wearing big earrings, and her usual headdress. She seems to have a flower in her hair, and in front of her there appears to be a sprig of mistletoe and some other greenery tied by a ribbon with a bow. The pots (which are missing the glass inserts) have ...click for details

Here is a very pretty silver plate serving spoon, possibly a berry spoon, signed by Wm Rogers, and “Pat 1904”. It is the Berwick pattern, or Diana. People sometimes call it “Diana Berwick”. It has a whiplash and wild rose motif which is quite lovely. It measures 7-1/2 x 1-7/8" and weighs approximately 56g. I believe it is pre-1940, but don’t know how much earlier.
