Here is a wonderfully detailed branch with leaves of green plique a jour (translucent enamel) and 4 old-cut diamond berries (est. total weight .35 points). It is unmarked, but tests a strong 14k, so it could be 15k. The pin assembly is original, it measures 1” x 1-1/8”, and weighs 5.9g. It has a hook on the back for a watch or dangle. The plique has some hairlines and bubbles, as is usual with these pieces, and 1 diamond has a couple small chips, which are exaggerated in the photos. Otherwise in ...click for details

Here is a splendid, very feminine necklace which drapes beautifully over the collarbones. It is made from an unusual hue of rose gold – closer to red than I’m used to seeing in antique jewelry. The garlands of gold are highlighted by 5 tiny stars of gold set with seed pearls and hanging from little plaques which are also set with seed pearls. The whole thing measures 15-1/4”, and the drapery section is 6-3/8”. The longest drape falls about 1-1/4”. It weighs a nice 11.4g, and the chain is an int ...click for details

Here is a stick pin which is lovely in its simplicity. The brightly-colored opal in its setting measures approximately 5/8” x 5/8”, and the whole thing is 2-1/4” long. It is signed M&Co for the famous Marcus & Company of New York City, and also has been marked 18340, which might be an inventory number. The yellow gold tests as 14k, and it weighs 1.4g. The opal has a little fissure, otherwise it is in excellent condition, and circa 1900.

This lovely bracelet is composed of 9 tulip links separated by “figure eights,” alternating with round balls. It is on the petite side, measuring 6-5/8” when closed. (It works really well on my 6-1/2” wrist.) It has the post-1945 maker’s mark for Jensen, a 750 stamp for 18kt gold, and design number 174. The shapes are very pleasing and satisfying somehow, and I really love wearing it. It comes with a Jensen box. Circa 1950, and just beautiful.

Here is a rare and splendid red-eyed dragonfly from Germany. It is sterling silver with a gold wash, marked “STERLING” and “DEPOSE”. There is also a partial maker’s mark, almost certainly for Meyle & Mayer, who were producing enamel jewelry in Germany at the turn of the last century. The plique shades from yellow through turquoise to a dark blue. A few of the central plique panels have some hairline cracks (usual for these lovely old pieces), but very few bubbles (not so usual!). One panel i ...click for details

This fascinating vanity jar by Gorham Corp is meant to look like the top of an old chest, with a strapping and stud motif. The top is monogrammed with what looks like “MP”. It has the Gorham marks, as well as "1942 D", the scissors mark for 1907, and “Sterling”. It stands 3" tall and measures 4-5/8" in diameter. Very good condition. (Please note: I have also listed a matching clothes brush, but with a different monogram.)

This lovely fellow is rare and wonderful. He is enameled in rich tones of blue, green, coral and yellow, and carries a tiny pearl in his beak. The dimensionality of the jewel is so unusual – the bird is about ½ inch deep! (And 1-1/4” tall x 1-1/4” wide.) It is very unusual to see a bird flying straight out; they are nearly always in profile. It is hollow, and the back is marked 900 for silver fineness, and also with the intertwined H and S for Hermann & Speck of Pforzheim, Germany. The old ...click for details

Wonderfully slinky and fierce, this gorgeous stickpin by Whiteside & Blank has loads of attitude and finely detailed work in 14k gold. The dragon clutches a tiny pearl in his claws – part of his treasure trove? (Can you tell I’m a little in love?) Measuring 2-6/16” long in total, the dragon is 5/8” x 7/8” and it weighs in at 2.5g. Circa 1900 and in excellent condition.
