This is an unusual piece. It is a watch fob chain consisting of 7 chains with a slide. The slide measures 1-1/2 x 1-1/4 excluding the dangles, and the whole thing measures 10-1/2”. The slide is centered by an enamel flower. Under the flower and decorative metal work is a mother of pearl panel. It has numerous teardrop shaped dangles which add ˝” to the measurements. Marked C(G?)ARANTIF(E?), maybe, or possibly GUARANTEE. There are other marks or decorations, but I can’t read them. As can be seen ...click for details

Here is a sweet pair of double cuff links straight out of the Nouveau world! Each is composed of a round end (1/2”) and a navette-shaped one (13/16”), and each has a raised mistletoe design. Mistletoe has long been associated with the Druids in England, with fertility (hence kissing under the mistletoe), life, & sex. It was gathered on both solstices, and later used to ward off evil spirits and witches. The ancient Greeks and Norse had legends surrounding it. How can you go wrong with that k ...click for details

This sweet little guy has a quizzical frown on his face, and is just adorable! It is unmarked, but the gold tests at about 12k. The total length is 2-1/8”, and the dog’s face is ˝” x 7/16”. It weighs 0.9g. Weimaraners were bred as hunting dogs in the early 19th Century in Germany, and were named after the Grand Duke Weimar, Karl August. In real life they are a lovely silvery color, but this guy is a nice warm gold. Wikipedia tells us “The Weimaraner is loyal and loving to his family, an incredib ...click for details

This lovely ring looks to me like a Victorian reproduction, and a very well done one. The elaborate gothic prongs set off the large iolite, and there are 4 very small single cut accent diamonds as well. The setting measures 7/8” north to south, and ľ” east to west. Size 8-1/2 approximately. It is marked 14k, and the setting is red gold. At some point the shank was replaced with yellow gold, but this isn’t noticeable when it’s being worn. The stones are in excellent condition, and of a modern cut ...click for details

This lovely lady is made from 14k gold – there are the remains of a mark, so I tested it. She is framed by a stylized shell motif, and has flowers and a diamond in her upswept hair, as well as another diamond nestled in her décolletage. This watch pin or brooch is of hollow construction, and weighs 4.7g. It measures 1” x 1-1/4”. The pin stem assembly is original. Her face is a little worn in the high places, and the back has darkened in a couple places. Also on the back there is a scratch, and a ...click for details

This sweet and simple ring has 3 citrines across the top. It has complete Swedish markings for 18k gold, for 1912, and the town mark for Malmo. It weighs .06 oz/1.7g, and is a size 5-3/4 plus a bit. It was signed by “G D & Co”, and engraved “1918/&13” (I think!). It would look lovely by itself, or as part of a stack of rings. One stone has a small, unnoticeable chip at the edge, otherwise in excellent condition.

Signed “BIGNEY” for B.O. Bigney & Co, of Attleboro, MA, this chain weighs 8.8 g or .31 oz., and measures 13-1/2". There are no hallmarks, but the chain and both findings test as a weak-ish 10kt gold. Half of the links were chased to give the gold an interesting texture. The spring ring is probably original to the chain. The swivel clasp doesn’t close entirely, but it is otherwise in excellent condition, and the whole thing is quite lovely. Victorian or Edwardian.

Here we have a rare Art Nouveau/Victorian cross-over piece. The Victorians had a fad for using real insects, particularly these green beetles (possibly the Florida tortoise beetle), in jewelry. The Nouveau jewelers loved naturalistic motifs, but generally didn’t use the insect itself – yet the design of the pin is totally Nouveau. Beetle jewelry has become very hard to find, and is often very expensive when you do. This pin is marked 14k, and is a lovely pale gold with which the beetle’s dark gr ...click for details

This eye-catching brush by Gorham Corp. is meant to look like the top of an old chest, with a strapping and stud motif. The top is monogrammed with a fancy "R". It has the Gorham marks, as well as “1857 C”, “Sterling,” and the scissors mark for 1907. It measures 6” x 1 -3/4" across the top, and is in very good condition. (Please note: I have also listed a matching crystal vanity jar, but with a different monogram.)
