This lovely piece is from the early 1800s, when cannetille work was the vogue – very fine gold wires twisted into thin ropes and then formed into rosettes and whatnot. The amethyst has a lovely delicate color, and weighs approximately 2.5 carats. The bale is decorated very prettily. The whole lavalier, including the bale, measures 1-1/2 x 9/16”.
