Incredible finely detailed hand embroidery and cut work poppys and seed pods embellish this fabulous antique linen button on pillow sham! The medium weight white linen is oh so cold and drapey and bound with tiny machine stitched french seams. Photos have been darkened to show stitching, it's very white ,freshly laundered and pressed. It measures 24" sq.
I found this most unusual piece in Japan! I love the design and use of woods and enameled colors! Perfect for your vanity, without taking up much room! 13" high, 10" wide, 6" deep
A soft and sturdy cotton surrounded on 3 sides with scalloped button hole stitching in favorite "Swiss blue", has such sweet embroidery on the top corners. It closes with 3 of the older European buttons (thread stitched over metal rings), as seen in last photo. Charming as a boudoir pillow, or for child or baby! Outside measures 23" x 16", inside is 19" x 14". For the photo I used a very old regular pillow that has lost lots of fill.
A Victorian pillow sham worthy of a prissy boudoir! a 4" deep scalloped lace ruffle surrounds this large fine cotton with 4rows of pin tucking on all 4 sides. The center has lace insertion of the same lace with ample room to add your monogram in the center! Photos have been darkened to show design,it's sparkling white! Beautiful professionally hand embroidered GB monogram in a square of much drawn work, highlights this matched pair of Euro shams. The antique linen is the best, so cold and drapey! The pale blue embroidery is outstanding! They close on the back with plackets intended for the cufflink type buttons, however you can tie with ribbons or add buttons as you wish. Older machine embroidered padded dots, floral vines with tiny taupe sanding stitches highlighting the leaves and flowers fill the center of the turndown on this sturdy but so soft sheet. 100% vintage cotton, measuring 67" X 90", laundered and pressed. The taupe and white are just lovely for a neutral setting!
Perhaps a liturgical piece for the Host, or in keeping with Napoleon's Bee theme, I can only wonder, however it is sooo fab, and most unusual for the collector! The four large bees measure 5" x 1 1/2". Their wings are outlined in button hole stitch around the cut work, with insertions of net in the wings. Heavily embellished with beautiful foliate designs, this coaster will be so appreciated at your table. It has a wonderful patina, but will polish beautifully if you prefer. Silver plate over a very heavy metal base, I see one tiny spot that seems to show brass, and it has a wooden base. The underside is covered in old green felted wool. 3 1/2" dia.
